Hehehe...we have more megs now...HAHAHAHA...we can melt your brain with more fiction!!!HAHAHA! Hmmm, I miss my sanity. It would have helped if SOMEONE would have taken up my fic challenge...hint hint to ANYONE out there!!!

BTW: this is still pre Megan/Cassie and Death. Well actually it could be post Cassie, you know, since she dropped off the face of the earth and all. (woo hoo!) Doesn't matter to me...you choose!

Oh yeah...there's a couple of bad four letter words!

Disappearance

Part 3....1/2...still

Morning....still.

*'Boy'...why does everybody call me 'boy', or 'kid' for that matter?? Of course the real question presenting itself is; Where the Hell am I?*

Blair mentally took an inventory of what hurt and what didn't. He touched his face carefully, feeling a tender spot on his cheekbone. He'd definitely been punched a few times. His ribcage hurt too. Probably kicked in the ribs...*perfect.* Blair struggled to his feet fighting rounds of dizzieness. Once standing he realized that he'd been sprawled out on the side of a dirt road. And by the looks of the grass growing between the tire tracks, the road wasn't used very often.

Deciding he needed to get the heck outta Dodge, he headed west on the dirt road, figuring that they had taken him east to the mountains. *Cascade then, would definitely be west of here. Right? Oh man, where's Jim when I need him? I have to get back there and get help for Kate. Jim is probably out on the rampage looking for us. Simon better keep a leash on him.*

Present...

Simon looked up from his paperwork to see Ellison at the door. "Come in." He watched the Detective enter the office and sit in the chair in front of his desk. His face showed no emotion, the only give away was the jaw clenching furiously. "What can I do for you Detective?"

"Sir, I need to take a few personal days."

Banks had seen this before, Ellison would never take 'no' for an answer. *Just like with that Switchman case and his senses. I tell him 'no' and he just goes off and does what he wants anyway. Somebody needs to keep an eye on him, especially in this state. Sandburg would kill me if he did that zone-out thing.* "Jim, I know what you're doing. Stop it. I can't let you go off on some sort of rampage to find those two. Besides, it's out of our hands."

Jim ran a hand over his short hair, his calm exterior beginning to fade. "I can't let this go...not when they're out there somewhere needing my help." He stood and began to pace the office. "If I had just been there--"

Simon cut in, "Let's not play the 'what-if' game. You are no more to blame than I am. I won't let you do this...not alone."

Time unknown...

The last time the two captors had come down to the basement, they'd brought her some food. Kate had wanted to eat it, but her stomach rejected the nourishment immediately. Even in her party days she'd never felt this bad...a hangover would be a blessing. For a while now, (who knew how long ) her headache had intensified from a dull throbbing to a *slightly* sharp pain of someone bashing her head in with a baseball bat. *Just stress Kate...you can handle it.* Suddenly a familiar voice upstairs broke the silence.

"I told you I didn't want her to be hurt dammit," the voice roared.

One of her captors spoke, "She put up quite a fight...we had to do something."

Her heart fluttered as she recognized the furious voice. *Oh God, how did he find me? Please don't let it be true. Okay, Jim? Now would be a GREAT time to pull one of your hero stunts. Where are you??* The men opened the door to the cellar, light pouring in from the doorway. Kate closed her eyes to block the blinding light. The men came closer to her, one of them kneeling beside her. He placed a hand on her forehead, pushing away stray strands of hair. Kate closed her eyes tighter at his touch.

"Jesus H. What the Hell did you do to her?" Grant shook his head in disgust, *Fucking morons.* "Quite a fight? It looks like you took a goddamned baseball bat to her!" The man gazed at his ex-wife in amazement. After all these years he'd found her. "Katie? You okay?"
